KidSmartz Safety Regional Dance Video $10,000 Winner

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and their corporate partner Honeywell are excited to announce Liberty Oaks Elementary has won $10,000 for their creative video of the KidSmartz™ Safety Dance Video Contest.

A celebration ceremony was held on Thursday, May 14 in the school's gymnasium, as Honeywell Hometown Solutions, the company’s corporate citizenship program, presented Liberty Oaks with a $10,000 cash prize.

Ms. Lori Schurle's kindergarten class produced the video earlier this school year, which highlights the students’ talents through dancing, acting and singing.  The winning video can be accessed by clicking here.

Four winning schools from across the United States have been selected as winners of the KidSmartz Safety Dance Video Contest. This nationwide competition, which ran from January 22 through March 16, was aimed at equipping elementary school students with the skills and confidence they need to be safer and protected from abduction.

Elementary schools were asked to submit videos of their students dancing their own rendition of the KidSmartz “Safety Dance,” a reimagining of the popular 1980’s song that reinforces the four rules of personal safety. Submissions were received from across the country and winners were selected by public votes and a panel of judges.

Congratulations to Ms. Schurle's class and the entire Liberty Oaks Elementary school community!
